Preparation

Preparation depends on the type of ultrasound. You may need to fast or drink water before your appointment. Follow the instructions provided.

During the Scan

You will lie comfortably while a small amount of gel is applied to your skin. The sonographer gently moves the ultrasound probe over the area being examined.

After the Scan

Once your examination is complete, you can generally return to your normal activities. Your images will be reviewed and a report provided to your referring doctor.
